Jan Briane Astom (piano, voice)

Jan Briane, better known as JB amongst his friends, is a registered nurse whose initial foray into classical music was in 2002 after reaching the National Finals of that year's National Music Competitions for Young Artists's vocal solo competition (Category A). Following the competition, he took a long hiatus from singing and focused on the piano, having been taken in by Prof. Melissa Taqueban.

As a pianist, JB has performed in numerous competitions and festivals in various venues including the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Philamlife Auditorium, and Paco Park. He has also attended masterclasses by esteemed Filipino pianists Reynaldo Reyes, Ross Salvosa, and Anthony Say. As an active piano teacher, he is an active member of the Piano Teachers' Guild of the Philippines Foundation, Inc. and has served as the organization's assistant secretary for fiscal years 2014-2016.

Following a disastrous bout with carpal tunnel syndrome that left his left hand injured, JB decided to venture back to classical singing in 2015 with Prof. Ma. Cecilia Valeña of the UP College of Music as his mentor. Since then, he has performed in various concerts and productions. He was a part of the 60th-anniversary re-staging of Felipe De Leon's Noli Me Tangere Opera where he essayed the role of Tinyente Guevarra. He has also attended masterclasses by renowned tenors Arthur Espiritu, Ronan Ferrer, and Nomher Nival and internationally acclaimed Romanian soprano Nelly Miricioiu.

JB is currently pursuing a master's degree in music therapy at St. Paul University Manila where he is a protege of Prof. Annette Asuncion.
